My Responsibilities

  • Game Design
    • Designed, Documented, Balanced, and Owned systems of play including: Weapons, Handling, Single Player Campaign, UX, and Customisation.
  • Management
    • Managed two other designers in order to ensure cohesive, quality work and make best use of their skills.
  • Scripting
    • Scripted Play Sequences, AI Behaviours, and small, logical systems using the Unreal Blueprint system.
  • UI
    • Maintained and updated the UI using Unreal Motion Graphics and Blueprint.
  • Track Design
    • Collaborated with peers on Track Design, conducting regular feedback sessions.
  • Promotion
    • Traveled to game shows such as GDC, EGX, and PAX, and conducted interviews with industry members, press, and the public.

My Responsibilities

  • Game Design
    • Liaise with the Creative Lead and convert their ideas into designs and develop them accordingly.
    • Balance handling, weapons, and customisation.
    • Clearly define game types in their objectives, rules, and failure states.
  • Camera Design
    • Designed and balanced the gameplay cameras used in game, ensuring adaptive behaviour that enhances the feeling of speed.

    • Owned and maintained the design wiki using Confluence.

My Responsibilities

  • Level Design
    • Designed and blocked out four spaces of gameplay progression, including the hollowed aircraft.
    • Designed and developed Gameplay objects and how the player interacts with them.
  • Scripting
    • Implemented gameplay objects to provide consistent challenge and tools for the player.
  • Production
    • Collaborated with the team on deciding a structure, theme, gameplay elements, and deployment schedule.
  • Interface
    • Created the menu and HUD (Compass and O2 gauge), and implemented such into the game using Scaleform and Flash (Actionscript 3).

UnderCurrent

UnderCurrent immerses players in an atmospheric underwater environment using the Oculus Rift Virtual Reality headset.

UnderCurrent was a student project developed during our third and final year of University.

My Responsibilities

  • Level Design
    • Designed level sections to fit puzzle mechanics and solve problems inherent to the platform and our chosen mechanics.
  • Scripting
    • Scripted 5 Game Puzzles for players to use, using workarounds to circumvent platform restrictions.
    • Scripted a Puzzle system for other designers to use and customise as needed.
  • Production
    • Documented levels, puzzles, and design decisions, for reference and clarity for handing in later.
  • Interface
    • Created the menu for all teams in the year to use with respect to the varying types of game being developed.
